Police Ask For Help in Identifying Suspects in Street Robbery on Sigwin Drive

18-Year-Old Fairfield Resident Assaulted, Phone Stolen

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying suspects involved in a street robbery Wednesday night on Sigwin Drive in Fairfield in which an 18-year-old was punched in the face and had his cell phone stolen.

Police said two 18-year-old Fairfield residents were walking on Sigwin Drive about 10:11 p.m. when three unidentified males walked up to them. One of the unidentified males said he wasn't from the area and asked the victims, both males, if they had a phone. As one of the victims raised his phone, the unidentified male punched him on the right side of his face and stole his phone, which was valued at $300, police said. The victim declined medical attention at the scene, police said.

"He said he didn't want medical attention, that he was Ok, but it appears they were clearly frightened by the incident," said Police Sgt. Sue Lussier, a department spokesman.

The three suspects then got into a newer-looking, black Chevy Impala and drove off, heading north on Figlar Avenue, police said.

The two 18-year-old males then ran to a friend's house on Figlar Avenue and had the friend call police, Lussier said.
