Norwalk Man Arrested on Larceny and Other Charges in Home Improvement Scam; Bridgeport Man Arrested in Theft From Tomlinson Middle School; Thefts From Motor Vehicles; Car Tire Slashed

A Norwalk man accused of accepting a total of $11,250 for a home improvement job he never finished was arrested Tuesday on two counts of offering home repairs without a license, failure to furnish a three-day notice, no buyer's rights notification and second-degree larceny.
Male Demetro, 25, of Lowndes Avenue, was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and was arraigned in Bridgeport Superior Court Tuesday morning, police said. Demetro turned himself in at the Fairfield Police Department at 7:30 a.m., police said.

Police said a resident on Barnhill Road paid $2,600 to Demetro in February to remedy a mold problem on a dining room wall and that Demetro did some initial work before saying he needed another $8,650, which the resident paid. But additional work wasn't done and officers learned that Demetro had no record of having a license to perform home repairs, police said. Demetro was arrested on a warrant, police said.
A 50-year-old Bridgeport man accused of stealing a DVD player from Tomlinson Middle School in January was arrested Monday in a warrant charging him with second-degree criminal trespass and sixth-degree larceny.

Jeffry Amante, of Shell Street, was held in lieu of $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Tuesday, police said.
Police said Amante was identified through surveillance video and that an officer saw him riding a bike on the Post Road in Fairfield near the Bridgeport border about 2 p.m. and arrested him.
An iPod valued at $700 was reported stolen from a sport utility vehicle parked on Marlborough Terrace in Fairfield sometime between 1 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on April 11. The theft was reported to police on Monday. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.
A GPS unit and a pair of binoculars, with a combined value of $550, were reported stolen from a 2010 Dodge Ram parked on Windsor Place in Fairfield sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Monday. There was no sign of forced entry, police said.
A tire on a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta was slashed while it was parked on Orange Street in Fairfield sometime between 7 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday. The vandalism was reported to police on Monday. Police said there was a one-inch cut in the tire's side wall and that the value of the tire was $125.
