Backpack Stolen at FWHS, Textbooks Left Behind; DUI Arrest; Motor Vehicle Break-in

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing today included the following cases:

A backpack valued at $90 and containing $20, a calculator valued at $100 and a cell phone valued at $150 was reported stolen from the boys' main locker room at Fairfield Warde High School sometime between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday. The backpack had been under a bench and textbooks had been removed from the backpack and left behind, police said.

A 19-year-old Stratford motorist who struck the back of a car by the intersection of Black Rock Turnpike and Jennings Road in Fairfield early today was charged with driving under the influence, police said.

Stacey Ferrara, of Margherita Lane, failed field sobriety tests, police said. She was released on $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 10, police said.

No one was injured in the 1:46 a.m. accident, police said.

A GPS unit valued at $158 was reported stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway on Hillandale Road in Fairfield sometime between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 7:15 a.m. today, police said.
