According to police, at around 11:30 a.m., the homeowner received a call from his home security company reporting his home alarm had been activated. As the homeowner was only five minutes away from the residence, he responded himself. He found the screen had been removed from a rear window, family room door ajar and that the suspects had left the premises. After walking through the house, he called police to report the theft of a Breitling watch, IMac laptop computer, a gym bag, luggage and various jewelry with an estimated total value of $12,500. Police interviewed neighbors, one of whom recalled seeing a dark older model Honda or Acura with a large rear spoiler parked in the driveway. Another reported that, around the same time, a light skinned black male, in his mid-40s and wearing a baseball cap and dark pants, had come to her door looking to do odd jobs.

The maintenance manager at Unquowa School, 981 Stratfield Road, reported on Tuesday the theft of an air conditioner that had been sitting next to a dumpster on school grounds.

The manager told police that a man, whom he described as approximately 50 years old with dark hair, trespassed onto school property driving a maroon-colored Ford pickup. The man pulled up to the dumpster and, without asking permission, placed the unit into the pickup and drove off.

DUI Arrest After Reckless Driving Reported

A Bridgeport woman was arrested Tuesday for driving under the influence after she was seen recklessly driving on the Post Road.

At around 9:30 p.m., a caller near Starbucks at 1740 Post Road reported seeing a tan Chevy traveling eastbound on the Post Road that was hitting curbs and repeatedly crossing the double yellow line. Police located the car, which they saw weaving back and forth, on the Post Road near Belmont Street, and pulled it over. The driver, identified as Maureen Ryan, 47, of Morehouse Street, hit the curb as she pulled over and put the car into reverse instead of park. The officer had to reach into the car to set it in park. Ryan’s eyes appeared bloodshot, police said. A breathalyzer test was administered, which did not detect alcohol. She was brought to police headquarters to provide a urine sample, the results of which are pending.

Ryan was released on a $100 bond and a court date of April 12 has been set.

A Fairfield University student reported early Wednesday that her black BMW had been broken into overnight and various items stolen.

Benson Road, at around 7:30 p.m. the previous evening. When she returned to the car, she found the passenger side window had been smashed with a rock and that an IPod valued at $250, Garmin GPS valued at $300 and Blackberry phone charger and t-shirts with a combined value of $90 had been stolen. Police are reviewing surveillance tapes.
