Police said the homeowner heard noises from her upstairs bedroom about 4:30 a.m. that sounded like someone trying to pry open her front door but didn't call police or leave her bedroom. She left the house at 9 a.m., returned at noon and found a first-floor window open that she had closed. Two small cuts were on the screen by a sliding lock, and the game and camera had been stolen from the living room, police said.

Jose Rodriguez, of Red Oak Road, was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear Aug. 7 in Bridgeport Superior Court, police said.

Police said Rodriguez was in a hotel room with his girlfriend, an Ansonia resident who has the protective order against him, and that he told officers he was helping to supervise a birthday party. Rodriguez told police the protective order should have been removed from the system, but police said the court order was non-expiring. The incident took place about 9:21 p.m. Monday, police said.
