Police Blotter for Feb. 10: Burglaries

Burglaries at Hands On Pottery and House on Suburban Avenue; Motor Vehicle Break-In at Nutmeg Bowl

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Thursday included the following cases:

About $80 was reported stolen from a cash register at Hands on Pottery on the Post Road in downtown Fairfield during a burglary Wednesday morning.

Police said entry was gained through a back door and that there was no sign of forced entry. The owner suspects a former employee or current employees who had keys to the business, police said. The burglar alarm went off at 7:15 a.m. but the owner, who lives nearby and who was on her way to the business, cancelled the police response, apparently believing it was a false alarm. She reported the theft of cash at 10:23 a.m. after arriving to find the back door open, police said.
