Police Blotter for Feb. 14: Warrant Arrest in Assault Outside Seagrape

Three Fairfield men were arrested Saturday in a warrant charging them with a fight that took place outside the Seagrape Cafe on Reef Road in Fairfield on New Year's Day.

Police said the victim was dating the ex-girlfriend of one of the men charged in the assault, which took place as the victim was waiting outside the bar to pay a cover charge, police said.

Thomas Barber, 22, of High Street, was charged with second-degree breach of peace; Cody McMahon, 19, of Melville Drive, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace; and Christopher Robles, 24, of Miro Street, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. Each was held in lieu of $2,500 bond and was scheduled to appear Feb. 25 in Bridgeport Superior Court, police said. Police said all three turned themselves in at the Fairfield Police Department after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.

Police said the victim came to the Police Department after the assault to report what happened and said he had been assaulted by Barber, who used to date his girlfriend. The two had exchanged words and Barber punched the victim in the eye, police said. The victim started to walk to his car and the three jumped him and punched and kicked him, police said.

An 18-year-old Fairfield resident was charged with disorderly conduct Friday night after police responded to a report of a loud party on Flintlock Road in Fairfield.

James Dowd, who lives in the house where the party was taking place, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Feb. 22, police said.

Police said about a total of 100 people were inside and outside the house, yelling or talking loudly, when officers arrived about 10 p.m. About 50 cars were parked on Flintlock Road in such a way that emergency vehicles could not get down the street, police said.

When officers arrived, they saw teens running through nearby yards, with one yelling, "The cops are here," according to the police report. Dowd came to the door after a few minutes and allowed the officers in to make sure no one was injured or an underage drinker, police said.

A wallet containing $25 cash and credit cards was reported stolen from an unlocked locker at The Edge, a gym on Kings Highway Cutoff in Fairfield, sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, police said.

A purse valued at $300, a shoulder bag of unknown value and a Blackberry phone valued at $50 were reported stolen from a car parked outside the Bear & Grill Restaurant on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield sometime between 9 p.m. and 11:22 p.m. Friday. A rear, driver's-side window was smashed to gain entry, police said. Damage to the window was estimated at $300, police said.

A 22-year-old Fairfield motorist was arrested early Saturday on charges of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and failure to drive in the proper lane after a patrol officer saw him driving erratically on Stratfield Road in Fairfield, police said.

Police said Michael Bodie, of Oldfield Road, was driving north on Stratfield Road at a high rate of speed and veered into the lane of the patrol car, which was heading in the opposite direction, about 1:51 a.m. Bodie failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Bodie had two small baggies of marijuana and a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana, police said.

Bodie was held in lieu of $200 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Feb. 22, police said.
