Police Blotter for Feb. 23: Arrest in Theft of $258 Worth of Energy Drinks
Woman Accused of Shoplifting at CVS in Downtown Fairfield Last Month Arrested on Warrant; Mailbox Theft on Sturges Highway
The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Wednesday included the following cases:
A 21-year-old Granby woman accused of shoplifting 15 six-packs of Five Hour Energy drinks last month from CVS on the Post Road in downtown Fairfield was arrested on a warrant Wednesday.
Police said CVS loss prevention officers reviewed videotape of the Jan. 17 incident and recognized the woman, Elyse Bianchet of Harmony Hill Road, from a previous shoplifting incident in East Haven. She was charged in the Fairfield theft about 3 a.m. at State Police Troop G in Bridgeport, police said.

Police said Bianchet loaded up a shopping cart with the energy drinks, which had a total value of $258, and fled in a car about 1:16 p.m. on Jan. 17. She was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 7, police said.
A mailbox valued at $150 was reported stolen from Sturges Highway in Fairfield either late Tuesday or early Wednesday. The theft was reported to police at 7:34 a.m. Wednesday. Police said several mailboxes on the Westport side of Sturges Highway were damaged.
