Backhoe Stolen From Lancelot Drive; Deer Impaled on Fence on Burr Street; Car Gets Unexpected Paint Job; Warrant Arrest for Burglary and Larceny

A new Holland LB75 backhoe of unknown value was reported stolen from Lancelot Drive in Fairfield.

The owner told police he had been storing the backhoe on a former employee's property over the winter and that it was gone when he went to get it Monday afternoon, police said.

A resident on Burr Street in Fairfield discovered Monday morning that a deer had impaled itself on a neighbor’s wrought iron fence and was still alive, police said.

The resident called police and a sergeant, who was unable to remove the deer from the fence, had to kill it, police said. Police contacted the town's Department of Public Works to remove the body.

A car belonging to a woman on Sullivan Street in Fairfield got an unexpected paint job Monday afternoon.

Police said the woman reported that her car and garage had been discolored by white paint, which she mistook for snow, that had been dumped in the road near her home. She told officers she was driving home in a Jeep Liberty and drove through the paint, which splashed up on the left side of her car and got tracked into her garage, police said. A damage estimate wasn't available.

A 26-year-old New Haven man accused of stealing an ATM card from his Fairfield parents and using it to make six withdrawals totaling $1,700 in July was arrested Monday night on a warrant.

The original incident was reported as a theft at the Valley Road home of Clark's parents, police said. Investigators identified Clark from security camera photos at banks in Fairfield and New Haven, police said.

Clark was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny. Information on Clark's bond and court date were not immediately available.
