Burglary at Lake Mohegan; Burglary on Melville Avenue; Larceny at Nursing Home; Motor Vehicle Break-in; Assault Arrest; Bicycle Stolen

Friday's press briefing at the Fairfield Police Department included the following cases:

The concession stand at Lake Mohegan on Morehouse Highway in Fairfield was broken into late Wednesday or early Thursday and $50 worth of candy, $50 worth of Pepsi and frappuccino products and $25 in change was stolen, police said.

Entry was gained by prying off a steel security gate on a serving window sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 12:20 p.m. Thursday, police said.

A laptop valued at $1,500 was reported stolen from a condominium on Melville Avenue in Fairfield sometime between 3 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday while the occupants were home.

Police said two residents in the condominium are hearing impaired and that the third is a heavy sleeper. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear slider door. The laptop was stolen from a coffee table in the living room, police said.

A laptop computer valued at $1,800 was reported stolen from a room at Connecticut Health of Southport, a nursing home on Mill Hill Terrace in Fairfield's Southport neighborhood.

Police said the theft of the laptop was reported at 1:45 p.m. Thursday and that it was stolen sometime over the prior three days.

Two tool bags with tools valued at a combined $750 were reported stolen from a 1999 Ford Explorer parked on Division Avenue in Fairfield sometime between 2 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Thursday. The right door lock had been pried open; damage to the door lock was estimated at $800, police said.

A 25-year-old Waterbury woman accused of punching her girlfriend in the face during a dispute Thursday afternoon on Fairfield Beach Road in Fairfield was arrested.

Latoya Coley, of Hillside Road, was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace after the 4:30 p.m. incident. The victim declined medical attention, police said.

Coley was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday. She had an active arrest warrant out of Waterbury and was turned over to Waterbury Police, police said.

A bicycle of unknown value was reported stolen from the north side of the Fairfield Railroad Station sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday. The bicycle was locked, and the lock was found on the ground when the bicycle's owner returned, police said.
