Police Blotter for July 8: 12 to 15 Bras Stolen From Victoria's Secret

Bras stolen from Victoria's Secret

Twelve to 15 bras, valued at $50 each, were reported stolen from Victoria's Secret on the Post Road in Fairfield Thursday afternoon.

Police said an employee noticed a bra hanging out of a bag carried by a unidentified woman in the store, and, when she tried to question the woman, she left. The employee later discovered that two drawers of bras had been emptied, police said.

Police described the woman as Hispanic, about five feet, four inches tall, 150 pounds, with blonde hair and heavy orange highlights. The woman wore heavy makeup and was dressed in blue jeans and an orange sleeveless shirt, with a paisley print, police said.

Theft from motor vehicle on Vesper Street

About $5 in change was reported stolen from a motor vehicle parked on Vesper Street in Fairfield sometime between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 12:30 p.m. Thursday. There was no sign of forced entry, police said.

Weary shopper arrested on drug charge

A 63-year-old Fairfield woman was arrested on a drug charge Thursday night after she had trouble breathing in Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield and asked to be taken to Bridgeport Hospital, police said.

The woman, Christine Hobbs, of Division Avenue, was arrested several days ago for stealing two battery-operated handicapped carts from the supermarket - one died in the supermarket's parking lot, while Hobbs drove the other one to her home, which is about a mile away, according to police.

On Thursday, Hobbs gave police consent to search her purse before she was placed in an ambulance, and officers discovered a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana and that had marijuana residue inside, police said.

Hobbs was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court July 14, police said.

Mountain bike stolen from outside McDonald's

A mountain bike valued at $600 was reported stolen from the parking lot of McDonald's at the Post Road traffic circle in Fairfield about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Fairfield man charged with DUI after wife calls police

A 60-year-old Fairfield motorist was charged Thursday night with driving under the influence after his wife called police to report that he had been drinking and had left their house, police said.

Edward Kovacs, of Alma Drive, also was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and operating an unregistered motor vehicle, police said.

Kovacs was released to his wife's custody after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court July 19, police said.

Officers stopped the car Kovacs was driving at the corner of Old Mill and Unquowa roads and he failed field sobriety tests, police said.

Couple charged with breach of peace

A Fairfield man and woman were each arrested on a breach of peace charge early Friday after an argument and fight outside their home on Longfellow Avenue, police said.

Police said Christy Marsan, 30, struck Jody Galemba, 32, and Galemba pushed Marsan to the ground about 1:50 a.m. Officers found both outside the home and saw blood on Galemba's chest, police said. The blood came from a cut on Marsan's knuckles, police said.

Marsan also was charged with third-degree criminal mischief because she took Galemba's cell phone and destroyed it, police said.

Marsan called police, and she and Galemba were each released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Friday, police said. Both declined medical attention, police said.

GPS, money stolen from car on Melville Avenue

A GPS unit valued at $200 and about $15 in coins and paper money were reported stolen from an unlocked motor vehicle parked at the Dogwood condominium complex on Melville Avenue in Fairfield sometime between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the GPS unit had been underneath the front passenger seat.
