Burglaries at Bill's Crossroads, Beijing Restaurant; Drug Arrests at Commuter Lot; Student Arrested on Drug Charges; Violation of Protective Order Arrest; Child Unattended in Car at Supermarket; Arrest After Rejection by Girl; iPod Stolen Behind Church

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Monday included the following cases. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Police are investigating burglaries early Monday at Bill's Crossroads, a bar on Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield, and Beijing Restaurant, also on Tunxis Hill Road.

Loose change and a bottle of beer were reported stolen from Bill's Crossroads after an officer on patrol noticed a broken window to the left of the front door and a cracked window to the right of the front door about 3:39 a.m. A bottle of Bud Light was found in the rear parking lot and was taken as evidence, police said.

While checking the area for a suspect, police officers about 3:57 a.m. saw that the bottom half of a glass front door on Beijing Restaurant was smashed out and that the cash register drawer was open, police said. The drawer only had coins, and an exterior door to the restaurant was open, police said.

Stamford Police provided a K-9 to try to track the scent of whoever was responsible for the burglaries without result, police said. Officers were not able to immediately contact the restaurant's owner, police said.

Three 17-year-old Fairfield boys were arrested on drug charges Friday evening after police responded to a report of possible narcotics activity in a commuter lot on Durrell Drive in Fairfield.

None of the boys was identified by police because they are considered to be youthful offenders under state law. One was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; another was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor; and the third was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The first 17-year-old claimed possession of 13 small baggies of marijuana, while the other two each claimed possession of a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana, police said.

A total of five people were inside the car when officers arrived about 7:47 p.m., police said.

The arrested 17-year-olds were released on promises to appear in Juvenile Court in Bridgeport, police said.

A student in the town's Alternative High School on Biro Street in Fairfield was charged with possession of marijuana Friday afternoon after police responded to a complaint from a teacher about a strong odor of burning marijuana in a bathroom at the school.

The 17-year-old boy, who was not identified by police because he is considered a youthful offender under state law, claimed ownership of a small baggie of marijuana that he had discarded on the floor. He had glassy and bloodshot eyes, police said. He was released to his mother's custody on a promise to appear in Junveile Court in Bridgeport March 24, police said.

A 34-year-old Bridgeport man was charged early Saturday with violating a protective order after police pulled over a motorist on Kings Highway East in Fairfield by the Bridgeport border because she nearly struck the center median before swerving back into a travel lane, police said.

A court order prohibited Jonathan Brown, of Atlantic Street, a passenger in the sports utility vehicle, from having any contact with the driver, police said.

Officers pulled over the SUV about 12:09 a.m., police said.

Brown was released after posting $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court March 21, police said. The relationship between Brown and the driver wasn't clear.

A 57-year-old Fairfield man accused of leaving his 8-year-old son unattended in a car parked outside Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield Saturday afternoon was charged with leaving a child under 12 unsupervised.

Police said the 8-year-old was unattended for at least 12 minutes while Jozsef Pall, of Marlborough Terrace, was in Walgreen's, where he had gone after shopping in the supermarket.

Pall was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court March 25, police said.

Officers were tipped off to the unattended child about 12:37 p.m., and the state Department of Children and Families was notified, police said.

A 22-year-old Massachusetts man apparently doesn't take rejection well.

Police said Timothy Cintolo, of Framingham, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief Saturday afternoon after an ex-girlfriend on Fairfield Beach Road in Fairfield declined his offer to date again and he picked up a snow shovel and smashed a glass patio table and slammed the front door with such force that it broke the door jamb.

Police found Cintolo in a nearby house after a friend of the victim's reported what had happened, police said. Damage to the door was estimated at $600, police said.

Cintolo was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Monday, police said.

A 17-year-old Fairfield girl reported to police that an unidentified man stole her iPod during what appeared to be a drug deal behind Calvin United Methodist Church on Kings Highway in Fairfield on Friday afternoon.

Police said the girl contacted police on Saturday and said she was behind the church taking a short cut home to Overlook Avenue from Cumberland Farms with a friend and that the unidentified man asked if she had a new iPhone or iPod. When she took the iPod out, the man ripped it out of her hand, police said.

The girl's friend, a 15-year-old Fairfield boy, said the man also asked where he could buy marijuana and stole a gram of marijuana from him, police said.
