Andrew Bobko, of Price Street, also was charged with operating with a suspended license and failure to return a license.

Police said Bobko had just had a fight with his girlfriend on May Street and was pulling away from the curb when he was stopped by the officer. Police said Bobko gave the officer false information about his identity and that his girlfriend provided his real identity. The officer then learned that Bobko had an outstanding warrant for operating under suspension, police said.

Bobko was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court April 12, police said.

A 28-year-old Bridgeport man was charged Tuesday morning with sixth-degree larceny after he allegedly stole cigarette lighters and batteries valued at a total of $47 from Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield.

Peter Rizzo, of Fairfield Avenue, concealed the lighters and batteries under his coat and tried to leave the supermarket without paying for them about 11:28 a.m., police said. He told officers he planned to give the merchandise to a store in Bridgeport in exchange for food, police said.

Rizzo was released on a promise to appear April 15 in Bridgeport Superior Court. Officers determined that Rizzo had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation, and, on that charge, he was held in lieu of $100,000 bond, police said. The charge for which Rizzo was on probation wasn't available.

A 19-year-old Bridgeport motorist was arrested early Wednesday after police pulled over the car he was driving on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield because it didn't have a front license plate, police said.

Police said Anthony Small, of Waldorf Street, was unable to produce a driver's license and that Small said he didn't have one. He was issued an infraction for failure to display reflective plates and operating without a license. Officers then determined that Small had three outstanding warrants - two for second-degree failure to appear in court and one for sixth-degree larceny. On those charges, Small was held in lieu of a total $15,250 bond, pending appearances on different dates in Bridgeport Superior Court, police said.

Police officers set up a perimeter around a bank on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield Tuesday afternoon after a teller reported that she received a phone call from a man who may have said he planned to rob the bank.

The teller told police the man was mumbling but she thought he said he was coming to the bank at 3:30 p.m. to rob it. A bank manager called the man back and could only make out the words, "Bank," "3:30," "Ok" and "No."

Police determined that the caller was in Ohio and may have been intoxicated. No one showed up at the bank, police said.

Scrap tires and rims valued at a total of $200 were reported stolen from Fairfield Collision Center on Wynwood Drive sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. The tires and rims were stolen from a storage area on the west side of the parking lot and a chain-link fence had been cut open, police said. A similar incident took place at the same business on March 25, police said.
