5 Cars Ransacked on Churchill Street; Car Unlawfully Entered in Mill Plain Road Commuter Lot

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Thursday included the following cases:

Five unlocked cars parked on Churchill Street in Fairfield were unlawfully entered either late Tuesday or early Wednesday but nothing appeared to have been stolen, police said.

Police said the would-be thief or thieves may have been looking for something specific, such as a GPS unit, and that owners of the cars may have left the cars unlocked to avoid having windows smashed.

A car parked in a commuter lot on Mill Plain Road in Fairfield was unlawfully entered sometime between 7:10 a.m. and 6:21 p.m. Wednesday but nothing appeared to have been stolen. The latch on the glove compartment had been removed and placed on the passenger-side floorboard, police said. Police said the car's owner was fairly certain the car had been locked, but there was no sign of forced entry.
