Police said Allison Kernan, of Bullard Street, initially told school officials she was changing for class and insisted she was enrolled in a make-up class at the Melville Avenue school. Kernan was taken to the dean of students' office and then said she went into the locker room to shower, but she didn't have a towel or change of clothes, police said.

Police said Kernan was warned in the past by school administrators not to go onto Warde High's campus.

Kernan was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court June 7, police said.

A purse containing a cell phone and a wallet with $20 cash, credit cards and gift cards was reported stolen from an unlocked car parked outside Greenfield Hill Congregational Church on Old Academy Road in Fairfield sometime between 2:45 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said the car's windows were rolled down and that the victim was a short distance away at a playground when the theft took place. Police said the victim didn't notice anyone by her car and that construction workers were in the area at the time.
