The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing today included the following cases:

A 39-year-old Bridgeport woman was arrested on assault and strangulation charges after she got into a fight with her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend early Friday, police said today.

Andrea Yandell, of Brewster Street, was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She was released after posting $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear May 7 in Bridgeport Superior Court, police said.

Police said Yandell went to a house on Hoyden's Hill Road in Fairfield where the victim and her boyfriend were sleeping and got into a fight with the victim, a 46-year-old woman, about 1:15 a.m. Friday. Yandell, according to the victim, pushed the victim down stairs and choked her with her left hand until her boyfriend pulled Yandell off her, police said.

Yandell then left in a car and was arrested at police headquarters later that day, police said.

A 19-year-old Northport, N.Y. man who had been warned to stay off the campus of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield was arrested Saturday morning after he was found back on campus and was detained by SHU security, police said.

Ryan Kreischer was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 10, police said.

Police said SHU security had warned Kreischer 90 minutes earlier not to go back on campus and that Kreischer was found in a dormitory at SHU about 6:01 a.m.

A 19-year-old Fairfield University student was charged with interfering with an officer after he ran from officers who stopped him for carrying an open container of beer while he walked on Reef Road in Fairfield about 3:51 p.m. Saturday, police said.

David Vasquez, who lives in South America, was also given infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor and open container in public.

He was held in lieu of $1,000 bond for the interfering charge and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 11, police said.

A 58-year-old Fairfield man accused of beating up a 21-year-old man at the Jennings Beach Skate Park in Fairfield Saturday afternoon was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

Jerome Meyer, of Kalan Circle, was upset that the 21-year-old man was seeing his daughter, police said. Meyer punched the 21-year-old multiple times in the forehead before leaving in his car about 4:13 p.m. The 21-year-old man had bruises on his head but declined medical attention, police said.

Police spotted Meyer driving his car a short distance away, police said.

Meyer was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 14, police said. The age of Meyer's daughter wasn't available.

An 18-year-old Fairfield University student was charged with interfering with an officer after he ran from officers who stopped him on Reef Road in Fairfield for carrying an open container of beer Saturday afternoon.

Michael Jones, of Chicago, was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 11, police said.

Jones was given infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor, open container in public and littering. He threw the cup to the ground as he started to run, police said.

Three Bridgeport men were arrested on multiple charges after police received a tip about suspicious people on Riverside Drive in Fairfield early Sunday.

Jose Bulerin, 44, of Park Avenue, was charged with third-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia; David Oscar Bass, 45, of Wilmont Avenue, was charged with third-degree larceny, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, interfeing with an officer, criminal impersonation and second-degree forgery; and William Shells, 51, of Pond Street, was charged with third-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said the trio were in a stolen car and that cocaine, a crack pipe and a spoon with cocaine residue were found in the car.

Bass gave police a false name and signed that false name on documents when he was arrested, police said.

Police received a tip about 12:35 a.m. Sunday that three men wearing hooded sweatshirts were walking in yards on Riverside Drive and then were in a parked car, police said.

Bulerin told officers that he, Bass and Shells were smoking crack in Bridgeport and that someone offered to loan them a car for $30. All three denied knowing the car was stolen. The car had been stolen in Bridgeport, police said.

Bulerin and Shells were held in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 11 in Bridgeport Superior Court. Bass was held in lieu of $15,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 11 in court, police said.

A 50-year-old man accused of trying to steal a five-gallon bucket of paint from The Home Depot in Fairfield Sunday afternoon was arrested on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.

Johnny Mazo, of Laurel Avenue in Bridgeport, bought a bucket of paint and took it to his car and then went back into the store, took another bucket of paint, valued at $94, and showed the receipt from the first bucket, claiming he already paid for the second bucket, police said.

Mazo was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 12 after the 2:47 p.m. incident, police said.

A 27-year-old Waterbury motorist accused of falling asleep behind the wheel with his car engine running and its gear shift in drive was arrested early Saturday by Duchess Restaurant on the Post Road in Fairfield on a charge of driving under the influence.

Joseph Eltman failed field sobriety tests and was released to the custody of his father after posting $250 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 10, police said.

A rowboat valued at $650 was reported stolen from the Lake Hills area of Fairfield sometime between April 24 and Saturday. Police said the rowboat, belonging to a man who lives on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, was chained to a tree but the chain had been cut. The theft was reported to police about 2 p.m. Saturday, police said.

About $700 cash was reported stolen from a car parked on Fox Street in Fairfield sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 11:48 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the victim had been with two friends watching a movie in her home on Fox Street and that she fell asleep. When she woke up, her friends were gone and her car keys, which had been on a bedroom dresser, were on her kitchen table, police said.

The victim had $1,000 in $100 bills in a purse in her car, and $700 was missing, police said.

A 22-year-old man accused of hosting a loud party on Fairfield Beach Road in Fairfield late Friday was charged with disorderly conduct.

Benjamin Geller was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 11 following the 11:35 p.m. incident, police said.
