Police Blotter for May 9: Siblings Arrested in Alleged Victoria's Secret Shoplifting

N.Y. Man and Woman Charged in Thefts From Victoria's Secret; Larceny From Library; Burglary at Swedish Motor Works; Shoplifting Arrests at Kohl's; Larceny on Glengarry Road; Theft From Car; Potted Flowers Stolen From Porch

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Monday included the following cases. Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

A brother and sister from New York were arrested on larceny charges after they allegedly stole merchandise from Victoria's Secret on the Post Road in Fairfield on Friday evening.

Police said detectives pulled over a car on the Post Road in Fairfield after the driver appeared to be trying to elude police and that the car contained $1,123 worth of merchandise from the Fairfield Victoria's Secret and a total of $1,860 worth of clothing and perfume that had been shoplifted elsewhere. A "booster bag," which is a bag lined with tinfoil to prevent security alarms from going off in stores when merchandise is stolen, also was in the car, police said.

Kevin A. Rodriguez, 21, and Angie Tatiana Rodriguez, 19, both of College Point, were each charged with third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and possession of a shoplifting device. They were each held on $2,500 bond and were scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 17, police said.

Police said Victoria's Secret employees identified the brother and sister as having been in the store. The incident took place about 6:41 p.m., police said.

An iPad valued at $635 was reported stolen from a pocketbook in Pequot Library in Fairfield's Southport neighborhood sometime on April 19 or 20. The theft was reported to police Friday morning.

Police said an employee in the library who works at the front desk had the iPad in her pocketbook and that she had placed the pocketbook on a chair behind her and had put her coat over it.

A cash register containing about $200 was reported stolen from Swedish Motor Works on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield during a burglary early Monday.

Police said a front glass door was smashed in about 4:54 a.m., the cash register was stolen from a desk and that the cost to repair the door was $700.

Two Bridgeport women were each arrested on a larceny charge Saturday afternoon after they allegedly stole clothing from Kohl's, a department store on Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield.

Yesenia Pagan, 38, of Grand Street, who allegedly stole $543 worth of clothes, was charged with fifth-degree larceny. Marta Correa, 50, of Madison Avenue, who allegedly stole $143 worth of clothes, was charged with sixth-degree larceny. Pagan was held in lieu of $500 bond and was scheduled to appear May 17 in Bridgeport Superior Court; Correa was released on a promise to appear in court May 17, police said.

Police said Pagan and Correa stole the clothing from the Intimates Department at Kohl's about 3:43 p.m.

A diamond and sapphire bracelet valued at $5,000 was reported stolen from a house on Glengarry Road in Fairfield sometime between Nov. 10 and April 11. The theft was reported to police Sunday afternoon.

Police said the homeowner told officers that only two people had access to the house.

Two jackets, each valued at $75, were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked on Euclid Avenue in Fairfield sometime between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 a.m. Sunday. A pouch that contained the owner's manual and registration certificate also was stolen, police said.

Three potted flowers valued at a total of $80 were reported stolen from a front porch on Euclid Avenue in Fairfield sometime between Thursday evening and Sunday evening.
