DUI and Drug Arrest; Fight Among Roommates Leads to Arrest; Fake ID Arrest; Trespassing Arrest; Ex-Husband Gets Ex-Wife Arrested; Tires Slashed; Motor Vehicle Theft; Shoplifting at CVS

Today's press briefing at the Fairfield Police Department included the following cases:

A 30-year-old Fairfield motorist accused of crossing the double-yellow lines on Stillson Road in Fairfield and nearly striking a parked car on Denise Terrace in Fairfield on Saturday night was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and operation of a motor vehicle with a valid out-of-state license beyond 30 days.

Christopher Holloway, of Dunhill Drive, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court April 30 on the drug charges and was held in lieu of $100 bond and assigned a May 3 court date on the motor vehicle charges, police said.

Holloway was seen by a patrol officer driving from the southbound to northbound lanes on Stillson Road and turning east onto Denise Terrace, where he almost hit a parked car, police said.

Police said he had marijuana and a glass pipe in his car and that he failed field sobriety tests after he was pulled over about 9:47 p.m.

A 22-year-old tenant on College Place in Fairfield was charged Saturday night with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct after she pushed and punched her two roommates, punched a bedroom door, knocked down a window shade and knocked numerous pens, pencils and seashells off a shelf, police said.

Megan K. Smith was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court today.

Police said Smith was intoxicated and that all three roommates stated they had been drinking most of the day. One of the roommates, also a 22-year-old woman, had bruising on the right side of her nose, police said.

Smith's two roommates barricaded themselves in a bedroom after Smith became violent, and 0ne of them called police about 8:22 p.m. when Smith banged on the door, trying to gain access, police said.

A 20-year-old Fairfield resident accused of trying to buy a bottle of vodka with a fake ID from Tunxis Hill Package Store in Fairfield Saturday afternoon was charged with misrepresentation of age to procure alcohol.

Lars S. Bengston, of Alton Street, gave a clerk in the Tunxis Hill Road liquor store a New York State driver's license that belonged to a friend in an effort to prove he was of legal age to drink alcohol, police said. He left the store but the clerk got the license plate on the car he was driving, police said.

Bengston was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 3, police said.

A 20-year-old Rocky Hill man accused of going onto the campus of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield on Saturday after he had been warned in the past to stay off campus was arrested on a charge of first-degree criminal trespass.

Anand Amin told police he had gone to SHU with a friend to pick up a friend's bag. He waited in the car, but then went into the William H. Pitt Health and Recreation Center to use the bathroom and was spotted by university security, police said.

Amin had been dismissed from SHU in February and had previously been charged by Bridgeport Police with simple trespass for going onto the campus, police said.

Amin was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 3 after the 5:25 p.m. incident, police said.

A 26-year-old Fairfield woman was arrested on a drug charge Saturday night after her ex-husband went to her home on Pine Creek Avenue, found her with another man and called police to report she had drugs in her house, police said.

Beverly L. Coppola was charged with illegal possession of marijuana and released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court May 3, police said.

Police said Coppola had been watching a movie with another man when her ex-husband showed up and that he allegedly slapped the other man. The ex-husband then called police to report that he believed Coppola had marijuana in the house and was concerned because her 5-year-old daughter lives there, police said.

An officer who responded smelled an odor of burnt marijuana and Coppola turned over a small amount of marijuana in the 9:10 p.m. incident, police said.

The ex-husband was not arrested for slapping the man with Coppola because he didn't have red marks or any sign of having been struck, police said.

A 2004 Dodge Ram parked in front of a house on Highlawn Road in Fairfield was vandalized sometime between 4:30 p.m. Friday and 8:45 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said a foamy substance had been applied to the driver's side of the truck and that it appeared to be peeling a protective coating from the paint. Damage was estimated by police at $800.

An iPod Touch valued at $249 and a converter cord valued at $90 were reported stolen from a car parked at Jennings Beach in Fairfield sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday. Police said the car was locked but a passenger-side window was left rolled half-way down.

Four tires on a car parked by Superior Cleaners on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield were slashed sometime on April 14. The incident was reported to police on Sunday after the victim had the tires replaced.

An unidentified man stole $90 worth of baby formula from CVS at 961 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield about 3:40 p.m. Sunday. The man put three cans of baby formula, valued at $30 each, in a backpack and left the store without paying for them, police said.
