8-Year-Old Fairfield Girl Assaulted on School Bus; Motorcycle Stolen; $1,500 Stolen From Car; Cable Box Stolen; Scrap Copper Stolen; Bikes Stolen; GPS Unit Stolen; Drug Arrest at Fairfield University

The Fairfield Police Department's press briefing on Wednesday included the following cases:

A woman on Rhode Island Avenue in Fairfield reported to police on Tuesday that her 8-year-old daughter had been assaulted while riding a school bus from the Six to Six Magnet School in Bridgeport.

Police said the woman called from an urgent care center on Stillson Road in Fairfield and told officers an older boy had slapped her daughter's forehead and slammed her head against a window while they were riding on the bus and that her daughter was crying when she got off the bus. The bus was traveling on the highway when the assault happened, police said.

Police said a similar incident also happened on Monday to the same girl.

The assault is under investigation, police said.

A 2008 Honda CBR 1000 RR motorcycle, valued at $8,000, was reported stolen from Pine Creek Road in Fairfield sometime between 11 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

About $1,500 cash and children's personal information were reported stolen from a Dodge Caravan parked on Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday. The incident was reported to police on Tuesday. Entry was gained by smashing a driver's side window, which police said would cost $200 to replace.

A cable box valued at $400 was reported stolen from a house on Eleven O'Clock Road in Fairfield sometime between May 28 and June 2. The theft was reported to police Tuesday.

Police said the cable box was in the kitchen and could be used by anyone because it already had been programmed.

A five-gallon bucket of scrap copper valued at $50 was reported stolen from a shed on Romanock Road in Fairfield sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. Entry was gained by prying a lock from the door, police said. The theft was reported to police at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Two children's bicycles, each valued at $150, were reported stolen from a driveway on Newton Street in Fairfield late Thursday or early Friday. The thefts were reported to police Tuesday. One was a mountain bike, the other was a beach cruiser, police said.

A GPS unit valued at $200 was reported stolen from a car parked outside The Edge, a gym on Commerce Drive in Fairfield, sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. Entry was gained by smashing a driver's side window, police said. The cost to replace the window was estimated at $300, police said.

A 20-year-old New York man was arrested on drug charges Tuesday night after Fairfield University security responded to a report of a party involving underage drinking in a townhouse on the university's campus.

Kevin Hill, of Babylon, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a hallucinogenic substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Sept. 8, police said.

Police said Hill turned over a sandwich bag of marijuana, a sandwich bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms and two glass smoking pipes to Fairfield U. security and that Fairfield officers arrested Hill about 11:26 p.m.
