Two Bridgeport men were arrested on larceny charges early Saturday after they stole goods from a residence on Fairfield University's campus, police said Monday.

Andre Rivera, 19, and John Balog, 19, both of Hansen Avenue, were charged with third-degree larceny, credit card theft and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. Each was released on $1,000 bond, pending an appearance on Oct. 1 in Bridgeport Superior Court, police said.

Police said Rivera and Balog were detained by university security as they attempted to leave the campus in a car about 2:09 a.m. Officers found a backpack containing a laptop computer, DVDs, jewelry, and a wallet with credit cards that belonged to someone else, police said. The stolen goods were valued at $6,595, police said. The men had attended a party at the residence where the thefts took place, police said.

A 40-year-old Bridgeport man accused of stealing 22 packages of Orbit chewing gum valued at $64.17 from Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue in Fairfield Sunday evening was arrested on a charge of sixth-degree larceny.

Shawn Gillespie, of Wales Street, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Sept. 28, police said.

Police said Gillespie planned to sell the gum to a bodega in Bridgeport so he could get cash for his drug habit. He was stopped by a loss prevention officer at the supermarket about 6:04 p.m. until officers arrived, police said.

Clothing valued at $5,800 was reported stolen from a delivery van used by a dry cleaners sometime between 7 p.m. Thursday and 5 a.m. Friday.

Police said the Friendly Cleaners' van was parked in the 1900 block of the Post Road, behind the store, and that the driver's side window had been left down. Police said 17 shirts, valued at a total of $5,000, and a two-piece suit valued at $800 were stolen.

A 21-year-old student at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield was charged with disorderly conduct early Sunday after police responded to a report of a loud party on Cummings Avenue in Fairfield.

Rory O'Connor, who lives in the house where the party was taking place, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Sept. 28.

A 21-year-old Illinois man was charged with disorderly conduct Friday night after police responded to a report of a loud party in the 700 block of Fairfield Beach Road in Fairfield.

Patrick Walters, of Lake Forest, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 28, police said.

Officers requested an ambulance from AMR Ambulance Co. for a female who was very intoxicated, police said.

A 21-year-old Massachusetts man accused of hosting a loud party in the 1000 block of Reef Road in Fairfield Friday night was charged with disorderly conduct.

Robert Hueber, of Wayland, who lives in the house where the party was taking place, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Sept. 27, police said.

An 18-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested on drug charges on Fairfield University's campus early Sunday after officers responded to a request for assistance from university security.

Alexander Goulden, of Concord, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Security recovered a small plastic bag and a wooden container that each had a small amount of marijuana about 1:30 a.m. in a Jogues Hall dormitory room, police said.

Goulden was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court Sept. 27, police said.

Police reported Monday that a noose was spotted hanging from a lamp post on the south side of the Fairfield Railroad Station next to a sign that said "Fairfield Conservancy." It wasn't clear if the noose and sign were related to each other, police said. The incident was turned over to Metro-North for investigation since the noose was on the train station platform, police said.
