Meindl's son, who had shards from the dinner plate in his hair when officers arrived, did not require medical attention and had a small bump on his head, police said. Meindl had previously locked him in an upstairs bedroom by tying the door shut with a wire, police said.

Meindl was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court today, police said.
