Burglary Arrest; Fight with Boyfriend Leads to Arrest; Arrest in Domestic Dispute; Motor Vehicle Break-ins; Mountain Bikes Stolen from Garage

Today's press briefing at the Fairfield Police Department included the following cases:

A 40-year-old Trumbull man accused of breaking into a house on Beaconview Drive in Fairfield and stealing a laptop computer Monday afternoon was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny.

Domingos Dias, of Madison Avenue in Trumbull, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court June 22, police said.

Dias went to a neighbor's house and asked if the house next door was vacant about 1:26 p.m., police said. When told it wasn't, Dias then walked around the house he had inquired about, calling to see if anyone was home, police said. He then entered the house, stole a laptop valued at $600 from a couch in the living room and left, police said.

A 20-year-old Naugatuck woman accused of hitting her boyfriend numerous times during an argument behind Hudson Valley Bank on the Post Road in Fairfield Monday afternoon was arrested on a charge of breach of peace.

Leah McNellis, of Spencer Street, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court today, police said.

Police said it wasn't clear what caused the argument and that McNellis' boyfriend had injuries to his face.

A 45-year-old Fairfield man accused of pushing his wife and knocking a phone out of her hand when she tried to call 911 during an argument Monday night was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call.

Mark Upchurch, of Black Rock Turnpike, was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court today, police said.

Upchurch got into an argument with his wife because their children were creating a ruckus about 7:40 p.m., police said.

A GPS unit valued at $120 and a cell phone headset valued at $20 were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway on Villa Avenue in Fairfield sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday.

The stolen items had been in a glove compartment, police said.

A chainsaw valued at $450 and a hedge trimmer valued at $450 were reported stolen from a sports utility vehicle parked on the south side of the Southport Railroad Station sometime between 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Entry was gained through a summer canvas top, police said.

Two mountain bikes, valued at $500 each, were reported stolen from an open garage on Park Drive in Fairfield during an unknown time frame.

The theft was reported to police at 1:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
