Police: Fairfield Man Injured, Threaten to Kill Woman

Michael Schouten, 36, of Fairfield, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct on Jan. 26 at approximately 9:30 p.m.

According to police, Schouten entered into a physical argument with a woman at a residence on Longview Ave. in Fairfield. Schouten allegedly held down the woman by her neck, causing physical injury, and threatened to kill her in front of their three-year-old daughter.

Schouten was held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 27.

I can tell you what society hasn't become: one where they throw you in prison pending trial without the right to post a reasonable bond. And I am thankful for it. Has nothing to do with "what the court views her life as worth."
