Police Investigate Series of Car Thefts, Break-Ins

Multiple cars were reported vandalized and broken in to this week. One was stolen from its owner's driveway.

are investigating multiple reports of damage to cars, thefts from cars, and the theft of a vehicle from a driveway.

A Devan Infiniti employee reported to police Wednesday morning that vandals damaged four cars in the lot sometime overnight. Police believe the suspects gained entry through a hole in the fence surrounding the car dealership. That damage is estimated at $500.

Each of the four vehicles suffered the same damage - at least one window was shattered in attempts to find keys inside the cars to unlock the wheels, police said. The damage to the four cars totaled $6,100.

On Wednesday evening, a complainant reported to police that her car was broken into while parked in the lower level of the garage at the Fairfield Cinemas. A cell phone was taken; damage to the window is estimated at $500.

A Marshall's patron reported to police Wednesday evening that her car was broken in to and her GPS, worth $300, was stolen. A 10-by-10 in. piece of concrete curbing had been thrown through the passenger side window, smashing it.

An Old Mill Road resident reported Thursday that his blue 2011 Volvo XC 90 was stolen from his driveway between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 7:05 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, the keys were in the vehicle. The plates on the vehicle read "CHTHUM" and anyone with information should call police at 203-254-4800.

A Meadowbrook Road resident also reported Thursday morning that the passenger side window of his vehicle was broken and all four tires were swiped from the car, a Honda. The tires' values were not provided in the report.
