Police Looking for Chef's Table 'Tipnapper'

The man in the surveillance video allegedly stole money from the eatery's tip jar.

Fairfield police are looking for the man they believe is responsible for "tipnapping" from the crew at Chef's Table.

Just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, a Chef's Table employee reported to police that someone stole $20-$30 from the tip jar at the register. Police said the employee described a suspicious individual -- a 30 - 35-year-old black male who comes in regularly but never orders anything -- who was at the counter, placed an order, and then changed his mind at the time the theft occurred.

The employee told police he believes the man he described was responsible for the tip theft. The surveillance video corroborates the employee's suspicions, police said.
