Police: Man Claimed to Have a Bomb While Attempting Robbery in Fairfield

Man fled on foot when store employees refused to give him any money.

Police are searching for a man who claimed he had a bomb while attempting to rob a Fairfield gas station this weekend.

According to police, employees at Citgo Gas Station, 2047 Post Road, Fairfield, hit the store’s panic alarm on Oct. 26 at approximately 12:52 a.m. after a man entered the store demanding money and saying he had put a bomb in the gas station’s garbage can. 

Citgo employees refused to give the man any money and he fled the store on foot before officers arrived. Police describe the suspect as a white male approximately 5’8”, 180 lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray pants.

K-9 units were called to track Old Field Road and Mona Terrace while other units swept the Citgo, and did not find any bombs or weapons. Some evidence was secured form the scene, according to police.
