Police: Woman Had Children With Her When She Stole Tip Jar

A 44-year-old Southport woman was arrested by warrant Friday on charges that she stole a tip jar from a Westport restaurant.

According to Westport Police, the woman entered a restaurant on Dec. 31, 2013, with two small children and allegedly took the tip jar from the counter. She also allegedly took money from a second tip jar to pay for her bill, police said.

After airing a surveillance video via local media, Westport Police received an anonymous tip that led to the suspect, identified as Stacy Flanagan, of High Meadow Road. Flanagan, who turned herself in at Westport Police headquarters, admitted to taking the money, according to police.
