Report: Man Caused $800 in Damage to Gas Station Bathroom

Avdi Rugova, 19, of Shelton, faces several charges.

A Shelton man was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday after he allegedly caused $800 worth of damage to the bathroom in Cumberland Farms on the Post Road, police said.

Avdi Rugova, 19, was reportedly intoxicated when he jumped out of his friend's (slowly moving) car on I-95 and then journeyed to Cumberland Farms, according to police.

He allegedly ripped out tiles in the bathroom and caused enough havoc to rack up $800 worth of damage, police said.

Rugova also reportedly resisted arrest, but was detained and transported to Fairfield Police headquarters, where he was charged with breach of peace, second-degree criminal mischief, and interfering with a police officer.

Rugova was held in lieu of a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 15.

Where do you think they get the money to pay for all the damages, it's passed off unto the consumer. The insurance premiums, the cost of the police and housing him while he's custody. So clearly it is my business. Somehow I have a feeling that you still live with mommy and daddy and don't know how business works. The grammar is horrible and how can you possibly know how I look? BTW I do feel free to say what I feel whether you agree or not.

ACTUALLY i live on my own thank you for your concern. i have bills and pay taxes like every other citizen. who pays for it? clearly you're not educated enough to know that OBVIOUSLY he needs to pay for the damages that's why he has a court date. you want to take a shot at my grammar? "while he's custody" that makes sense. NOPE while he's in custody. wouldn't you rather waste your time with a more serious cause like people dying rather than a drunk spree. i have said before i am not defending his actions but come on ...look on the bigger picture we all have way more important problems in the world that just a gas station getting a little trashed. you did not see the event you just read about it in a news paper. ever hear of propaganda? obviously they are going to make the story seem a lot worse than it was so people read it. that's what all news is ...propaganda to get readers.

Okay I'm wrong. I admit it. It's perfectly acceptable to go on a drunk spree and damage other people's property. How silly of me to expect people to take responsibility for their actions. Please keep this mind when it happens to your property and see if you are this all forgiving. Chances are he'll pay for the damages, but this is why insurance is high, for those cases where the person isn't caught. Not to mention everyone else who wants to use the rest room is inconvenienced. But it's okay because he's an amazing guy.
