Retired Fairfield Fire Chief David Russell Jr. Dies at 85

The Fairfield Fire Department announced that retired Fairfield Fire Department Fire Chief David Russell Jr. died Saturday at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was 85. 

Russell joined the Fairfield Fire Department on Nov. 13, 1954, and served as Lieutenant and Captain before being appointed Chief in 1975 following the passing of Fire Chief Joseph Stopa. 

Russell served as fire chief for 16 years before his retirement on Jan. 1, 1991; funeral arrangements will be announced as they become available through the family.
