SUV Parked on Metro-North Tracks in Fairfield

MTA officials took a boyfriend and girlfriend found nearby into custody, police said.

assisted MTA officials before dawn on New Year’s Day when an SUV (pictured) was reported as backed onto Metro-North train tracks at Carter Henry Drive.

A tan Nissan apparently had been backed onto and parked on the southernmost tracks, according to Sgt. Sue Lussier, public information officer at the Fairfield police department. The car was running, she said.

“We notified MTA to stop the trains and they located a male and female—boyfriend and girlfriend—in the woods along the tracks,” Lussier said. “They had previously been at the Fairfield Theatre Company.”

Police received the call at 2:16 a.m. Sunday, Lussier said.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody by MTA officials and the vehicle was towed, Lussier said. The boyfriend apparently owns the SUV, she said.
