Shelton Man Gets 13 Years for Fairfield County Robbery Spree

Christopher French sentenced for a rash of robberies and holdups that occurred last April and May.

A Shelton man was sentenced to 13 years in prison last week for a spate of holdups at area businesses last year that included Adam's Bakery in Fairfield.

Christopher French accepted a plea bargain Thursday before pleading guilty to seven counts of first-degree robbery, among other charges, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police charged the 37-year-old Shelton man in May 2012 for the armed robbery at Adam's Bakery the month before. French faced additional charges in June when police suspected him of a holdup at Two-Fold Laundry in Stratford, which cops said was followed by another heist at a tanning salon in Fairfield on the same day.

French confessed to further armed robberies and holdups at several Bridgeport businesses, including the May 1 robbery of the Subway on Broadbridge Road and the May 3 robbery of the Subway on Barnum Avenue, the Post reports.

Why do we need to plea bargain with this drugged out punk? He commits 7 armed robberies including a young cashier at the bakery and we need to plea bargain where he is sentenced to 13 and gets out in 6? He should be behind bars for a minimum of 25 years. This is total BS!!!

Yankee Fan, I agree with you 100%. This is why we have the crimes we have. Just like the gun laws. When they are caught the courts let them loose. If they want to raise my taxes for more jails I'll gladly pay.
