Six Charged with Car Break-In in Fairfield

Three men and three teens were each charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

Three Bridgeport men and three teens were arrested in Fairfield early Tuesday for their alleged roles in the theft of a wallet and speakers from a car parked on Philemon Street, police said.

The vehicle owner called police after the items were stolen from his unlocked car and described the vehicle the suspects fled in.

Officers found a vehicle matching the complainant's description and conducted a motor vehicle stop. Six males were in the vehicle, as was the stolen wallet and marijuana.

The suspects spoke with police officers and admitted to taking the speakers, which were located at one of the subject's Bridgeport residence.

Deon Singh, 18, of French Street, Gaspard Nicolas, 21, of West Jackson Avenue, Kirk Porter-Smalls, 18, of Cleveland Avenue, and three juveniles were each charged with fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny.

Singh was further charged on outstanding warrants for three counts of third-degree burglary, sixth-degree larceny, and two counts of fifth-degree larceny for his alleged involvement in a previous theft in Fairfield, according to the report. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Nicolas and Porter-Smalls were held in lieu of $5,000 bonds and the youths -- ages 15,16, and 17 were released on juvenile summons. Nicolas was further issued an infraction for possession of marijuana.

The three men are scheduled to appear in court on March 12; the youths are to appear in juvenile court on March 13.
