Copper Grounding Plates Stolen, More: Fairfield Police

Six copper grounding plates were reported stolen Thursday from the roof of the on Jefferson Street, police said.

Police discovered six areas of the roof where wiring was removed or cut to gain access to the copper, which was swiped.

The total loss is estimated at $600. Police are investigating.

Police are investigating thefts from vehicles at John E. Curran & Sons Plumbing on Tunxis Hill Road, reported early Friday.

According to the report, two unlocked vans were entered in the past few days and $1,000 worth of tools were taken.

An employee told police that he had seen a suspicious, "scruffy" white male in his 40s, whom he described to police as "heroin-addict looking" on the businesses property a few days prior to the report.

This is under investigation.
