Summer Grilling Safety Tips From Ass't Fire Chief Chris Tracy

Warm weather and summer's approach means the start of grilling season, and Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tracy has some safety tips when it comes to firing up the grill.

If you haven't used your grill since last summer, "make sure no critters have chewed through" any parts of the grill, Tracy said.

Check all systems just as you would upon using a brand-new grill, Tracy said.

If you're using a BBQ grill, make sure the seal is good and that there are no bubbles if using an adhesive spread to secure a gasket.

"This is just a reminder as the seasons are getting nice," Tracy said. "Just use caution as we get happy about the sun coming back."
