Three Boys Attempt to Ignite Each Other in Fairfield

No one was injured, police said.

A Fairfield mother reported to police Monday that her son and two friends attempted to set themselves on fire on Friday, police said.

According to the report, the three boys -- two are 11 and one is 13 -- were roasting marshmallows outside at a small campfire when one of the boys brought out a can of WD-40.

He reportedly sprayed the flames with the WD-40 and then the youths sprayed each other's clothes. One child’s clothes partially ignited, singing his hair and eyebrows. No further damage was done, according to the report.

According to police, the complainant wanted to make other parents aware of the situation.
