Two Fairfield Residents Face DUI Charges

One man turned himself in on a warrant; a woman was arrested on scene on Wednesday.

A Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence after a patrol officer observed her driving erratically on Black Rock Turnpike, police said.

Police said they observed Melinda Hravstock, 32, pull out of the Metro Center parking lot and reported her “swerving all over the roadway” on Black Rock Turnpike, near Jennings Road.

Police followed Hravstock to the parking lot and interviewed her. According to the report, the officer could detect the odor of alcohol on her breath. She failed to complete field sobriety tests and police transported to headquarters, where she was charged and released on a $100 cash bond to her mother.

Hravstock’s court date is March 16.

A Fairfield man was charged with driving under the influence following an investigation into an accident that occurred in December, police said.

Patrick Walsh, 23, was allegedly driving under the influence when his car crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of Mill Hill Terrace and Acorn Lane, according to the police report. The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 10.

Walsh told police on scene that he was driving too fast, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. He was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where a toxicology report was performed.

Walsh turned himself into police on Wednesday after learning of a warrant for his arrest in connection to the accident, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. He was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.

His bail was set a $25,000.
