Vandals Strike Sign That Honors Newtown Shooting Victim

Fairfield police say a sign on the Sandy Hook Memorial Playground at Penfield Beach that honors Jessica Rekos, one of the 20 first-graders killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Newtown, was vandalized at some point over the weekend, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The vandalism, which defaced the sign with a series of scratches, was reported to police at 11:29 a.m. Tuesday by a firefighter, police told the Fairfield Citizen.
