[VIDEO] Wallet-Snatching Trio Sought by Fairfield Police

Fairfield Police say a trio distracted an elderly shopper so one of them could swipe a wallet from her purse she left in a shopping cart.

The Fairfield Police Detective Bureau is investigating the distraction type theft from a purse left in a senior citizen's shopping cart

The incident was caught on video at the Stop and Shop at 740 Villa Ave., on Friday, June 20 at approximately 3:20 p.m., according to Fairfield Police.

According to a police statement, "the three subjects pictured below entered Stop and Shop together and began walking up and down the aisles. On video they were observed walking past the victim, a 79-year-old female, who was several feet from her shopping cart looking at merchandise."

"They immediately turn around, and while the female suspects ask the victim for assistance, and casually block her view of her cart, the male suspect reaches into her purse and steals her wallet," police said.

Police have released a video of the incident.

If anyone can identify the subjects below, or has additional information, they are asked to contact Sgt. Tony Granata at agranata@town.fairfield.ct.us or 203-254-4840.
