Westport Subway Robbed at Gunpoint

Police say the suspect is still at large.

The Subway at 903 Post Road East in Westport was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning.

Westport Police said employees indicated that an individual entered the store at approximately 10:10 a.m. and displayed a silver colored handgun. "The employees retreated to the rear of the store at the sight of the armed individual and he then went behind the counter and removed the cash box from the register," police said.

The suspect reportedly fled on foot, toward the intersection of Cedar Road, carrying the cash box in his hands.

"The area was searched immediately after the robbery by Westport Police with the assistance of the Norwalk Police K-9 unit and at this point the suspect is still at large," police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6-feet tall, of muscular build. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, dark grey or black pants, a black ski-type mask with only his eyes exposed, and black gloves.
