Westport Woman Charged with Theft from Bob's

She reportedly shoplifted $437 worth of clothing from the store, cops said.

A Westport woman was charged with sixth-degree larceny after she allegedly shoplifted $437 worth of clothes from Bob’s on the Post Road, police said.

Wendy Saltus, 42, reportedly took clothes from the store without paying and brought them out to her car, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. loss prevention took down her license plate number, but Saltus came back in without the stolen clothes and allegedly concealed more items to take out of the store, police said.

Loss prevention stopped her from leaving without paying a second time. When officers arrived Saltus reportedly attempted to misguide them about the stolen goods but ultimately allowed them to search her car, where they found the clothes. According to the report, she told officers the clothes were for her children.

Saltus was taken into custody, charged with sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer, and released on a promise to appear in court on April 16.
