Woman, 27, Killed in Crash on I-95 in Fairfield

Her car reportedly slammed into a tractor trailer and caught fire.

A 27-year-old woman was killed on Interstate 95 in Fairfield Sunday morning when her car smashed into a tractor trailer and burst into flames.

The woman was identified as Yvonne Sokol, of Bridgeport.

State Police are investigating the accident, including reports that she may have been weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed before the crash, according to a report on myfoxny.com.

The crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. on March 30, on I-95 northbound near the exit 22 rest area. When the Fairfield Fire Department arrived, Sokol's vehicle was under a tractor trailer and it was on fire. She was trapped inside, according to an incident report from the fire department provided by Chief Richard Felner.

The fire was quickly extinguished and 24 firefighters worked together to extricate Sokol from the vehicle. She had no pulse when they pulled her from the wreck, the report states.
