A Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence on Saturday after the car she was operating reportedly struck the rear of another vehicle, police said.
The complainant told police she was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Post Road and Mill Plain Road when her car was reportedly struck from behind. The complainant said both cars pulled over and she thought the operator of the other vehicle was intoxicated, according to the report.
The complainant called police and Cynthia Sandoval, 42, of Ruane Street was taken into custody after police reportedly detected the odor of alcohol on her breath and she failed sobriety tests, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
Sandoval reportedly refused a Breathalyzer test and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation after police released her from custody. A court date was not included in the report.
