A Fairfield woman was charged with driving under the influence early Tuesday after she reportedly crashed her car while driving her two children to school, police said.

The vehicle that Colleen Fecke, 47, was operating went off Sturges Road, struck a tree, and then swerved back into and off the road again, striking a second tree, according to the report.

Responding officers reported no injuries to the driver -- identified as Fecke of Queens Grant Road-- or the two passengers, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said. The passengers were identified as Fecke's children.

Police noticed the odor of alcoholic beverage on Fecke's breath, according to the report. She allegedly failed three field sobriety tests and was transported to the Westport Police Department, where she consented to a breath test. Fecke's blood alcohol content was reportedly over the legal limit, and she was brought to Fairfield Police headquarters and charged, Lussier said.

Fecke was further charged with risk of injury to a minor and failure to drive right. She was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.

The case was referred to the Fairfield Youth Bureau and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
