Woman Charged with Fairfield Garage Burglary

Viviana Nieves, 24, of Bridgeport was charged with fourth-degree larceny, police said.

A Bridgeport woman was charged with fourth-degree larceny on Wednesday in connection to a theft of guitars and electronics from a garage in Fairfield, police said.

Viviana Nieves, 24, was held on a $3,000 bond and is due in court on July 11.

The initial report to police was filed on April 18, 2012. A Cranston Street resident reported his garage had been burgled and several guitars, guitars cases, electronics, and a computer were stolen.

The complainant said he had accidentally left the door open and there were no signs of forced entry.

Police were able to develop fingerprints from the garage and found the complainant's belongings in a pawnshop in Milford. Detectives were able to identify Nieves as a suspect, executed a search and seizure warrant at her home and foudnd more stolen items, and charged her Wednesday.

A Florida woman was charged with sixth-degree larceny Wednesday after she allegedly shoplifted a dress and sunglasses from , police said.

Maircellis Maldonado, 20, reportedly brought a three-week-old baby, a dress from the rack, and sunglasses into a fitting room at the store and left the fitting room wearing the dress and carrying the sunglasses in her purse and attempted to leave without paying, according to loss prevention employees.

When confronted, Maldonado reportedly admitted she was wearing the stolen glass and had the sunglasses in her purse, police said. The merchandise was worth $62.

She was released on a promise to appear in court on July 5.

An Apple iPad was reported stolen Wednesday from the on the campus, police said.

The iPad was valued at $600, according to the report. This is under investigation.

A Wheeler Park Avenue resident reported to police late Wednesday that his car had been damaged by fireworks that evening, police said.

The complainant said he heard a crackling sound coming from outside his house and saw white sparks were bursting all over his Toyota Highlander.

He tried to put out the sparks with a house but the $1,200 in damage had already been done: the windshield was cracked, the hood burned, and there was damage to the front bumper and hood.

The resident told police he does not know anyone who would target his vehicle. This is under investigation.
