Becker Brings in $2,035 in Latest Reporting Period

Has to pay $100 fine for filing campaign finance report late

David M. Becker, a Republican candidate for first selectman, received a total of $2,035 in contributions from individuals in April, May and June and his campaign committee had $5,366.75 in the bank on June 30.

Becker's campaign finance report for April 1 through June 30 came in on Tuesday - a day late - and he has to pay a $100 fine within 15 days. Town Clerk Betsy Browne said the $100 can't come from money received by the campaign committee.

By comparison, Robert B. Bellitto, Jr., a Republican candidate for first selectman, brought in $5,322.75 in the latest reporting period and had $25,983.45 in the bank on June 30. But Bellitto gave his campaign $30,000 in the prior reporting period.

Democratic First Selectman Michael Tetreau received $30,795 in contributions in the latest reporting period and had $28,832.47 in the bank June 30.

Bellitto received a total of $7,672.75 in contributions over both reporting periods, while Becker received a total of $6,160.

When the latest reporting period began April 1, Becker's campaign committee had $4,081.23. In addition to $2,035 from individual contributions, the committee also received $5,906.60 from an exploratory committee that Becker established prior to his campaign committee.

Contributors to Becker's campaign on the latest report included:

* Gwen Palmer, a self-employed Fairfield resident, $100;

* Kelsey Biggers, a Fairfield resident employed by K2 Advisors, $75;

* Kathryn Braun, an attorney and District 8 member of the Representative Town Meeting, $100;

* Robert MacGuffie, a Fairfield resident employed by B.I.D., an insurance company, $100;

* Jeremy Brock, a self-employed Fairfield resident, $250;

* Brendan Donohue, a Fairfield resident and vice president in the NBA, $100;

* Vincent Ansaldi, a retired Fairfield resident, $150;

* Pat Robinson, a Fairfield resident employed by Odyssey RE, $100;

* Ed Bateson, a self-employed Fairfield resident and deputy majority leader of the Representative Town Meeting, $250;

* James Millington, a Fairfield resident, Shelton police officer and majority leader of the RTM, $250;

* Art Rotelli, a Fairfield resident and employee of News America, $100.

Becker's campaign committee paid a total of $6,656.08 in expenses in the latest reporting period, which included:

* A total of $3,030.72 to AOL/Patch Corp. for web advertising;

* $402.69 to Southport Brewing Company for food and room rental;

* $926 to Confirmed Freight in Stratford for clothing giveaways;

* $600 to the Fairfield Arts Center for banner ads;

* $200 to the Southport Fire Department for a booklet ad;

* $270 to SR Publicity for public relations work;

* $1,206.19 in reimbursement to the candidate for expenses associated with web advertising on Facebook; stamps from the post office; mailing items from Office Max; notecards from Paper Source; and website hosting by HostGator.com.
