Fairfield Board of Finance Vice Chairman Rob Bellitto has announced that he is running for a second six-year term on the Board of Finance, and is seeking the Fairfield Republican Party nomination at its caucus on July 23. All registered Republican voters are eligible to vote in the caucus to determine which candidates will run in the general election in November.

Bellitto, who was the Republican candidate for First Selectman in 2011, has been a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, and has served his hometown with commitment, integrity and professionalism. During his six-year tenure on the Board of Finance, Bellitto has acted to preserve Fairfield’s AAA credit rating and approved funding to renovate and repair aging schools, public facilities and infrastructure. He has also voted for several of the lowest tax increases in Fairfield’s recent history.

“People often say that they want leaders who aren’t afraid to make the tough choices," Bellitto said. "I have always made the tough choices and acted in the best interests of all Fairfield citizens, even when it wasn’t politically expedient to do so."

“I have worked with my colleagues on the Board of Finance, on both sides of the aisle, to properly fund long term obligations, institute a responsible formal bonding policy, and adequately fund the town’s reserves," Bellitto continued.
