Cathy Malloy Named CEO of Arts Council

Any potential ethics issues in regards to the First Lady's new position will be handled on a case-by case basis, the governor's chief counsel told the Connecticut Post.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council announced on Monday that Cathy Malloy has been named the nonprofit organization's new chief executive officer, according to the Connecticut Post. Her first day will be on Oct. 17.

Gov. Malloy's chief counsel Andrew McDonald told the Post that even though a substantial amount of the organization's contributions and sponsorships come from corporations, including Northeast Utilities and Connecticut Light & Power, the administration sought to ensure that Malloy's new position wouldn't pose any ethical dilemmas. He added that any potential conflicts would be addressed with the Office of State Ethics on a case-by-case basis.
