Connecticut Lottery Revenues Top $312 Million

The money the state makes off its gaming is now greater than casino slot revenues.

With the recent dip in slot revenues from Connecticut's two Native American-run casinos the state's lottery now accounts for greater revenues than what the state gets from its share of casino slot machine earnings.

The Connecticut Lottery paid $312.1 million into the state's general fund in fiscal 2012-2013. That's about $16 million more than what the state got from its share of slot machine revenues from the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos, the Boston Globe reports.

The state lottery earnings represent the first time the lottery has out-performed slot machine revenues, the Globe reports. Total slot revenues for the fiscal year that ended June 30 was $296 million, the newspaper reports.

Under their agreement with the state to operate their casinos, the state's two Native American tribes, the Mashantucket Pequots and the Mohegans, give the state 25 percent of all slot machine revenues. That money is then redistributed by the state to municipalities.
