FAIRFIELD DEMOCRATS TO HONOR DOUG JONES FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE

On Saturday, September 15, 2012, Fairfield Democrats will honor one of their own, Doug Jones, with the 2012 John L. Sullivan Public Service Award.

 The Sullivan Award was established in honor of the extraordinary dedication and service of John Sullivan to the Town of Fairfield throughout his lifetime. This award is given annually to a Democrat who has served our party and community with distinction encompassing community service and sustained political activity and leadership.  Nominations for this award come from the membership of the Democratic Town Committee and are voted on by a majority vote of the party leadership comprising the current officers and district leaders of the Democratic Town Committee.

Doug Jones has been a Fairfield resident since 1985.   Doug has made an impact being involved with Fairfield, and the community at-large. Since joining the Fairfield DTC in 1999, Doug has been an outspoken member of the RTM (2001-2007), serving as its Majority Leader from 2005-2007.   He has also served as a member of the Greater Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency (2007-2009), the Fairfield Conservation Commission (2009-2011), and currently serves on the Fairfield Warde Roof Building Committee.

Doug has worked with Habitat for Humanity and Westbridge Coalition, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together.  Doug is a former committee chair of Cub Scout Pack 88 at Jennings School.  

Doug is a graduate of Brown University, and also completed additional study at Trinity College, Parsons School of Design, and the New School for Social Research. Doug has worked in the book and magazine publishing industry for more than 35 years, and is a founding partner in a leading publisher’s consulting firm. 

Doug is married to Meg, and has two sons, Andy (Fairfield Warde ’10, majoring in music at SUNY Purchase), and Tim (sophomore at Fairfield Warde).
