LWV SPONSORS STATE LEGISLATIVE DEBATE

 

The Fairfield Public Library and the League of Women Voters of Fairfield are co-sponsoring a public debate with the candidates for the State Legislature. The event will take place in the Rotary Room of the Main Library at 7 p.m. It will conclude at 9 p.m., when the participants will mingle with audience members one on one. Attendees may submit written questions for the candidates; these will be screened by League members for duplication and clarity.

Invited to participate are candidates for the 132nd District, Brenda Kupchik, Republican, and Tom Drew, Democrat; for the 133rd District, Dee Dee Brandt, Republican, and Kim Fawcett, Democrat; for the 134th District, Tony Hwang, Republican, and Michael Murren, Democrat; and for the State Senate 28th District, John McKinney, Republican, and Mitchell Fuchs, Democrat. Judge of Probate candidates Daniel Caruso, Republican, and Pamela Jones, Democrat will briefly discuss their qualifications for office and why they are interested in serving as judge.

Kiki Karpen, past president of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, will moderate the debate. The public is welcome to attend and learn about the candidates' positions on issues critical to the State's revenue sources, spending, and operating programs.
